Our dream began....
with our first Kuvasz "Ilsa", bought as a "pet quality" companion. How can there be a dog more beautiful than Ilsa? Over 30 years ago, "Ilsa" was the puppy who stole our hearts and began to teach us the mysteries of life with a kuvasz. Our lives were changed forever.

The more we learned about the breed, the more we realized how little we knew. In early 1992, a six month old puppy was returned to his breeder and "Laszlo" became our first show dog.

As we became more and more active in showing and in Kuvasz Club of America, we met enough breeders to learn how they did business and knew it would be hard for us to find another dog we liked from a breeder we were comfortable doing business with. We knew we wanted mentors and there just didn't seem to be many breeders who put "service to puppy buyers" as a priority.
We had been carefully studing in person and in photos and videos what we liked and didn't like about kuvasz internationally. For a dozen years we had been owners, rescuers, fosterers, exhibitors both in obedience and conformation as well as active Club members. It was time to stop complaining about "not enough good breeders" and do somethiing about it.
Casablanca Kuvasz was born.
Our dream is to produce a kuvasz that is true to the historical Hungarian type; able to work like its ancestors had, on the puszta and in the villages for a thousand years. A guard dog and family dog by instinct, yet one that could compete successfully under the FCI standard, the standard written by the Hungarian Kuvasz Club as well as the AKC standard.
We needed a foundation bitch, and a breeding in 1996 produced two exceptional bitches. All we had to do was choose the one who would be "Hali"!

Our first litter was born in 1998 and we have been able to produce about one litter every year or 18 months since.
As more kuvasz owners and breeders came on-line, an international community began to emerge again around "correct type". I began corresponding with individual breeders and found Christina Klosterberg of Csigora in Sweden very like minded, not only about correct type, but also the need for breeders work together and share health information for the welfare of all our breeding programs.
I sent frozen semen from Laszlo to Csigora and Christina sent a female puppy to us that would become Am, UCI Int'l CH Csigora Bátor Lány of Casablanca, CGC. "Laney" would add bright white coats, dark pigment, and gloreous curls to our breeding program.
I believe we continue to be one of the few active kuvasz breeding programs in the U.S. that has both correct Hungarian type and service to our owners as our guiding principles.
We continue to serve the kuvasz community as active Board Members of Kuvasz Fanciers of America and I own and host several on-line discussion groups and Facebook pages for our breed.
In 2013 I launched RescueRake™ a grooming tool I designed to be gentle on long and medium length double coated dogs (and cats) and ergonomic for the user. Proceeds support organizations of the buyer's choice.
More recently we have been able to exhibit our BISS Gold GCh Casablanca's Vakmero Pandur around the country.
